In our Hindu text, is there any mention about evolution of earth, living creatures especially humans? Question by Gayathri Ramakrishnan Nine Creations At point on creation Brahma, consciously (buddhipurvaka) begins to meditate, Avidya appears with five knots Tamas, Moha, Mahamoha, and two more. They unfold themselves and thus immobile (mukhya or sthaavara) creation takes place. Brahma is not happy with the static creation or sthavara creation. He then creates lower creatures, block by block, level by level till he creates the animal-world called Tiryaksrota (actually levelled multiple words are implied Tiryaksrotas). These are oblique, Tamasika and ignorant. Then Brahma creates the third creation, Sattvika and creates Urdhvasrota(s) or Gods. Then Brahma creates the several “down-currented” (arvaaksrota(s)) creations like Humans, Gandharvas, of both Rajas and Tamas yet capable of achieving sattva. Then Brahma creates the fifth creation called Anugraha Sarga. (Favoured Creation). This fifth creation is also of four types: Viparyaya (contrariety), Sakti, Tushti (satisfaction) and Siddhi (achievement). The creatures in these four Anugraha sarga groups have knowledge of past and present. Then Brahma creates the sixth creation of Bhutadi (elements) and Tanmaatras. What is Tanmatras, you ask? It is in philosophy the ATOM. It is more than that. It is all the potential states of that atom. The mere essence or the subtlety of the elements. In all scenarios. This is basic Quantum theory here. According to some scholars, Brahma’s sixth creation is Bhutadi and eighth one we will get to is Bhutadi and Tanmatras. The three more Creations are : o Creation of Mahat o Creation of Tanmatra also called Bhutasarga o Vaikaarika Sarga (evolutes of Prakrati) perceptible by senses. Actually, the last three are together Primary or Prakrta and Mukhya to Anugraha are secondary. (Vaikaarika). Sixth one is bhutadi potentials or probables falls in the two stools! Humans perceive first creation, second creation, fourth creation, maybe interact with third, sometimes reach fifth creation and rarely perceive the Primary. All potential Sargas are represented as quantam states in sixth creation. The vedas and Puranas themselves indicate higher and higher states of conscious and understanding related to evolution of man from animals. These concepts even indicate that we are not at the height of evolution and will reach it. There would be even higher trinities and other parallel concepts. Siva and Brahma are always involved in dhyana, they are meditating on maybe more creations, higher creations, more universes or even on higher trinity. The main point of sanatana dharma is always keep improving yourself eventually you break the reincarnation cycle, even Brahma Vishnu Siva are in a reincarnation cycle, higher than us but still inside the cycle and thus they also consistently improve themselves. No book is final word. No text is final statement. Thats what differentiates us from other religions. If you are scared by this concept, take shelter in any concept. We have the freedom. Dont forget we are merely third level of creation, pitras are fourth, anugraha is fifth, to them also trinity is high gods and maybe differently available for interaction. Anugraha has Rribhus as trinity. The trinity is very high above us. we are trying to conceptualize the trinity so we may assign them a static high position but they are merely gods of gods, we do not even reach that high, so they have manifestations at lower level for themselves to interact with devas themselves. Those manifestations appear as merely a son of aditi, or a son of Brahma who himself is a manifestation of original hirranyagarbha Brahma yes, Nilalohita or original Rudra was born as son of Brahma. Vishnu is just a younger brother to Indra, the original Hari. This constant changing of deities itself is an indication of changing of thought patterns and deeper understanding. Thus constant evolution of ideas.
