In our countries past the person that murdered my son Michael - TopicsExpress

In our countries past the person that murdered my son Michael Shull would already be trembling in front of his maker. I know that under that system many innocents we wrongfully incarcerated and many put to death. I understand that the system had to be improved to prevent those tragic results but I fear that we have gone to far. Extremist views, the outrageous cost for any legal representation, the foolish legislative manipulation and budget constraints placed on Law Enforcement and the rest of the judicial (and many other) systems and the distrust so many Americans now place with all of these entities has all but destroyed this system. When we have to plea bargain with a confessed murderer - remove any chance of the death penalty - bargain away First Degree Murder for a lesser charge, even with a solid case just because we fear facing what I will describe as a modern Jury with all of that distrust of the system - something is definitely wrong. While I love my country it continues to be hard to have faith in its people and leaders. I could rant on about so many things and how we as a great people are capable of so much more. We the people working for the greater good was meant for everyone from the poorest single parent trying to raise a family to the richest politician, religious leader or corporate CEO. Trust for each other and our system can never be attained if we dont come to grips with our past, present and future without such selfish extremist attitudes. Please wake up America.
