In part 3 of my series: “Living in God’s Abundant Supply”, I want to ask an important question in regards to God’s character – how generous is he? I believe what you believe in this regard will affect your ability to receive from God. UnknownThe first lie the devil ever sold Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, was a seed of distrust. The devil intimated, that God lied when he said that they would die if they disobeyed his single command. He made out, that God was selfishly hiding something back from them – he was preventing them becoming gods! This was a ridiculous suggestion: that is what they already were, the “gods of their world”, and ruling over a fantastic paradise without suffering, hunger, sickness or any danger. All they had to do, was a bit of gardening and, as far as we know, there were no weeds! Unknown-1What lie has the devil sowed in your heart? Is it, that God somehow begrudgingly saved you from an eternity in hell but somehow doesn’t care that you are sick today or unable to pay the bills? Is your image of God a divine scrooge or is it an amazing and generous heavenly father – who loves to bless you every day! James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation, or shifting shadow Romans 8:32 describes the lengths that God has gone to not only to save us, but bless us in every way: He that spared not his own son but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things. This is how generous God is, this is the measure and extent of his goodness and kindness and provision! He is prepared to do everything it takes, to the extent of being prepared to sacrifice his own son for us – and we were his enemies! This love should overwhelm us! Do you know anyone that matches this kind of generosity? God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son (John 3:16) He freely gives us all things. It doesn’t say a few good things. No, it says ALL! There is only one limitation: it is with him (Jesus). Its ALL free and paid for in full. You can’t earn or deserve God’s provision and generosity, all you can do is believe and receive. Jesus has personally laid down his life so that you can have eternal life. How fantastic is that? 2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. This isn’t just a one-time deal either, (I think that would have been pretty good myself!) No, it’s daily provision. Even under the law, the children of Israel were daily supplied manna in the wilderness and their clothes never wore out out. Under the new covenant the blessings greatly exceed this! Too many of God’s people are living on half rations, when a feast is available! Psalm 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. I can hear a few voices of doubt: “maybe all, only means spiritual blessings”? Ephesians 1:3: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: The following scripture (2 Peter 1:3) says it all and covers every base! 2 Peter 1:3 “According as his divine power hath given unto us ALL THINGS that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us to glory and virtue. Yes, spiritual (godliness). However, God also cares about your life (zoe) and he’s interested in every aspect. Are you involving God in every aspect? What has God done for you?
