In preparation for a students voice lesson tomorrow I am listening to every version I can get my hands on of the first movement of the Bruch Violin Concerto #1 in Gm (she is also an incredibly gifted young violinist currently working on this piece) and this is making everything in my world all right. Just so utterly gorgeous. Dont know what you call them in violinland but those glottal attacks he has you do mimic exactly the technique we singers employ when we want to really color certain words. This beautiful piece crosses all stylistic boundaries and makes me remember that I am so very blessed to be a musician.
