In re this Guardian thing. Obviously its lovely to get a short write-up in a major international website. However, there is one part of it that I am not liking. Thats the part where each band is encouraged to get as many fans as possible to post on the thread saying that *their* band is their favourite. We all got an email to that effect from the Guardian, suggesting that we encourage our fans to vote for us. That proves nothing. That doesnt get anyone listening to any new music. All five of the bands listed are great. I encourage you all to listen to all of them. I promise youll like at least two of the ones you never heard before. I dont know which two, though. Moreoever - while I am grateful to those of you who have already posted to say that Fit and the Conniptions is your favourite - I have a request. Please - if you have a moment - post again saying which of the other four is your favourite out of those and saying that I asked you to do this. If you have not yet posted, please - if you have time - have a listen to the others and then post saying that Fit and the Conniptions sent you there to vote for one of the other four. They are: Mishkin Fitzgerald, Algiers, Kármán Line and Waterbaby. All worth a listen. Ive written to Marc Burrows (the Guardian journalist who does this column) suggesting that this is what he does in future - get each band to ask their fans to say which of the others they like best. But meanwhile, such as it is, chuffed as I am, I feel like Ive received an invite to an astroturfing competition. Well, Im not interested and I dont like it. Im not going to ask you to vote for me. Not here, not now not ever. I know you already like my music and Im grateful. The only votes that really count are when you come to my gigs or download my albums and so on. And its up to me keep making the music that makes you want to do that. (More new stuff soon I promise... RSN etc...) Meanwhile, as far as this Guardian thing goes, I want to know which of the *other* bands you liked :) theguardian/music/2013/nov/20/discover-five-brand-new-acts-and-tell-us-what-you-think-of-them
