In reference to an earlier post by Kristi Van Eaton, RE: Spirit filled Christians, I found this short article to be enlightening. Also when it mentions John the Baptist as being the first Spirit filled Christian, it came to mind he was also a martyr (possibly the 1st Christian martyr, I havent studied the time-line of deaths yet). So for those who think being saved makes God the genie in the book (so you can name it & claim it) think again! We are soldiers; soldiers of the cross! Often soldiers must be used as cannon fodder, to be blunt. Not there is no guarantee every soldier will survive every fire fight (physically speaking). Im just saying being saved & Spirit filled does not give one the right to expect the proverbial life of Riley, or that there will be no difficulties on our journey to the promised land. Being continually filled with the Holy Spirit is very important, especially to us living in the last days of the dispensation of Grace, which soon shall end. If you have not received the infilling, since you believed, receive Him soon. But that is for another discussion; for now guard your salvation, stay Prayed up, Filled up, packed up and ready to go for Jesus return is soon. In John 16:33 Jesus said I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”. We serve the Almighty God, and we shall overcome! I may step in to eternity with the next heartbeat, but as Paul wrote; I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that (me) which I have committed unto him against that day.
