In response to a post Gene Edwards said; "The 1st Amendment clearly states that: “The Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” We were not intended to create “The Church of America”, as was the mandatory “Church of England” that they left behind. No Law, is No Law, same with the prohibition of or practice thereof…period. If say I want to practice atheism, guess what, I can do that as well, as that would be a religion with man himself as god. If you really want to find the words “Separation of Church and State” in a government, you will need a translated copy of what used to be the charter for the Soviet Union.
