In response to some of the comments from a different thread. Can we please end once and for all the racist myth that the Soviet Unions battle strategy amounted to little more than a suicidal human wave. Throughout European History, Asian militaries such as the Mongols, Ottomans, and Chinese have always been depicted as Endless Hordes from the East, mindless drones who are sacrificed in scores to accomplish military goals. The point being that Asians are too stupid to use actual tactics and therefore must rely on numbers, as opposed to Gallant Aryan Europeans who use wits and maneuver to defeat their foes. Anyone who studies the Mongol Empire will find that rather than endless mindless numbers, what led to their success was their brilliant riding ability, precisely coordinated and creative movements, planning which used deception and surprise, complementary use of heavy and light cavalry, and shooting accuracy from horseback. Anyone who studies the Red Army will find that rather than suicide waves, what led to their success was the doctrine of deep battle, which relied on combined arms, maneuver, and encirclement. Parroting the bourgeois myth that the Nazis used blitzkrieg and maneuver while the USSR was a suicide horde is historically false, is exactly what Nazi propaganda wanted people to believe and is inherently racist. People should also recognize the way this Fear of the East manifests itself in our culture, and in our media depictions of modern states like North Korea and China.
