In the 25th installment of Carol/Joy road trips gone awry.... yes, yes we did leave a queen size mattress (or rather the mattress left us!) on the side of the Fairfax County Parkway on the way to deliver said mattress (& other items) to Joys new apartment in Winchester. Whether our trips include multiple U turns, driving through an entire state while holding a door closed that doesnt want to be shut, & our latest ~ mattresses flying off the back of a pick up.... We do not travel normally. Another snafu in the true sense of the word.... We did exit & re enter the Pkwy & found our mattress. And we are incredibly grateful it just slid gently off & landed safely on the right shoulder...We did not create any accidents. A major shout out to the bus driver that stopped traffic coming off the exit ramp and asked Tod, who we had called at work for assistance, if she could pull over & help him load it into his van ( he politely declined as Joy was walking up the shoulder to help him, while I waited in the truck w/ my hazard lights on). Box springs & frame safely delivered & set up in Joys new & very cute Winchester apartment.... mattress safely crammed into the back of the mini van in our not so cute driveway & will be taken via the pick up (w/ multiple bungee cords & ropes ~ googling types of knots as I write this) along w/ the rest of Joys things & Joy on Wednesday when we make the trek again for her to begin Junior year at Shenandoah. Grateful that all ended well & for driving my dream car, the RAM truck!
