Austrian Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife, Sofia, were assassinated in Sarajevo by a Serb nationalist — the event cited as the beginning of World War One. 1950. Korea. The Bodo League massacre begins. This was a widespread massacre and war crime against communists and suspected sympathizers. Estimates of the death toll vary. According to Prof. Kim Dong-Choon, Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, states that at least 100,000 people were executed on suspicion of supporting communism; others estimate 200,000 up to 1,200,000 deaths. The perpetrators of the massacre blamed the communists for decades with the United States supporting the claim. 1969. New York City. Police raid of the Stonewall Inn the night before. Rioting continues to next day against the police. Known as The Stonewall Riot.
