In the Lampasas Dispatch Record today: LCHEC offers several new scholarships Officials at the Lampasas County Higher Education Center announce a new scholarship for students enrolling in allied health programs at LCHEC. Six $100 scholarships are available this year to help students pay for programs in nurse aide training, EKG technician, clinical medical assistant, patient care technician and other allied health programs offered in Lampasas. Applications are due at the LCHEC office two weeks prior to registration. Scholarships are made possible this year by a donation from the Lampasas Lions Club. In addition, LCHEC has released 2014 applications for the Edward Jones Pursuit of Excellence scholarship sponsored by Ken McDaniel, Edward Jones Investments, Lampasas, and for the LCHEC scholarship. Each stipend is for $500. The deadline for both applications is April 4, 2014. The Pursuit of Excellence scholarship is for tuition for college-credit courses taken at LCHEC. Applications will be judged on the basis of academic success, citizenship and character. The LCHEC scholarship covers half the total cost of tuition and building-use fees for college-credit courses taken at LCHEC. The student is responsible for the other half of expenses. Applications will be judged on need, citizenship and character. Both stipends are open only to high school juniors and seniors taking dual credit courses at LCHEC. Scholarship applications are at LCHEC, on the Lampasas High School website, or in the LCHEC office at 208 East Ave. B (across from Badger Field.)
