In the Leadership and Diversity class that I teach at UNL, we do a section on Social Architecting! Social Architecting is about creating work environments that produce a climate of energy and productivity (and it comes from the construct developed by Emotional Intelligence and Diversity Institute). Leaders who have the capacity to do that are unique and have developed a leadership capacity that is, in my opinion, most often overlooked in our education system. To me, education is most valuable if it is transferrable to the everyday! My friend, Randy Hawthorne, is one such leader. He is mentioned in this TED talk by Jay Wilkinson, the CEO of Firespring. The talk is really good and really thought provoking, and yes, my students watch it in class and we discuss it. I thought you may enjoy it too!
