In the News: UBD LIBRARY TO ORGANISE BOOK FAIR 2013 Published on Thursday, 07 November 2013 07:54 Written by Borneo Bulletin Courtesy from Brudirect Online (brudirect/national/national/national-local/10186-ubd-library-to-organise-book-fair-2013) Bandar Seri Begawan: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Library will be organising a Book Fair 2013 from November 13 to 16 and November 18 at the Library Annex, Ground Floor Library, UBD. This is an annual event, inviting local and overseas booksellers to sell their books, stationaries and to showcase other new products of interest. This years theme is Book for Life Long Learning. The book fair aims to exhibit the latest publications, including educational materials, published and produced locally and abroad. A wider range of titles which include books on fiction, nonfiction, travel, wildlife, sports and many more will be on sale. The organiser hopes this will encourage people to be aware of new reading materials that are available in the market. The exhibition also hopes to attract avid readers and scholars to enjoy bargains offered by the participating exhibitors. The objectives of the book fair among others are to exhibit the latest books and other publications covering various areas such as management, medicine, sciences, religion and others published outside and inside the country, to provide opportunities for book supplier, publishers, and book lovers to network and interact among themselves, to assist parents and students to get books and relevant school materials, to provide opportunities to network and meet with the booksellers, distributors, publishers and illustrators. The fair is open from Wednesday to Saturday and Monday from 9am to 6pm, except for Friday which will open from 9am until 11.30 am and from 2pm to 4pm. Local companies are expected to participate in the Book Fair and several government agencies, such as the Language and Literature Bureau, the Brunei History Centre and State Muftis Department will also be invited. A number of activities have been arranged during the book fair such as quizzes and competitions to liven up the Book Fair.
