In the United Kingdom, a total of 73 MEPs will be elected by proportional representation in eleven multi-member regional constituencies. Voters select a party and cannot vote for individual candidates, with the order of candidates being determined by the political parties. The exception is Northern Ireland, where voters can rank candidates from different parties. Seats are apportioned in each region according to the D’Hondt method (except in Northern Ireland, where the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system is used). The numbers of MEPs per region are as follows: East of England: 7 South West: 6 London: 8 South East: 10 North West: 8 North East: 3 East Midlands: 5 Wales: 4 West Midlands: 7 Yorkshire / Humber: 6 Scotland: 6 Northern Ireland: 3
