In the book, The Beauty Myth, Naomi Wolf says something that always has stuck with me. That the definition of beauty in ages past had to be much broader than the very narrow version we have today. It had to include perpetual pregnancy, goiters, rickets, toothlessness, pox and god knows what else. If this has already been discussed, forgive me ( I am relatively new) but I find this fascinating and would appreciate your comments or direction to an earlier thread. I am thinking that as a 63 year old woman in relatively good preservation, I might just find a time machine and go back several centuries and pass myself off at 40. What did a healthy 40 year old woman look like back then?
