In the book of Numbers ch.23 and 24 Balaam delivers his oracles(prophecy) to Balak. In the first oracle Balak takes him to see a section of the people, that he wanted Balaam to curse, and Balaam was only looking at that section of the people with his own eyes, but knowing what God said about them, but still skewing his view by alter sacrifices and what he was being shown. You cant be an effective prophet, leader, an effective Christian, if you are living by others views of people, what they want you to see about them, and not what God is wanting to show you. Balaam looked with these closed eyes twice. But the third time, Balaam had a desire to see the blessings God was talking about over the Children of Israel, God opened his eyes, the same as he did when Balaam was on his donkey earlier in the passage. Balaam turned his face toward the desert, that shows us, he turned his face away from, what he heard what he seen, and looked with nothing, and in that nothing God showed him something Great!!! This is Good News, Amazing for us!!!! Stop viewing people for what others have said about them, that is only their view! Stop looking with your own eyes because they are skewed, because of what you seen and heard, even if not a person, but a situation! Do like Balaam look toward the desert, toward nothingness, and watch God reveal His GREATNESS! Just like Balaam you know what God has said, but can never believe it, until you allow him to show it to you!
