In the final analysis, the MJC (Muslim Judicial Council) is incriminated in and complicit to the genocide of Palestinians and the wanton destruction of Gaza. On 6 August 2014 the National Coalition 4 Palestine (NC4P) of which the Muslim Judicial Council is a constituent member with its PRO, Nabeweya Malick, being one of NC4Ps national spokespersons issued a statement which included the following resolutions :We stand in solidarity and in support of justice, equality and freedom for the Palestinian people. We oppose, in the strongest terms, the military invasion of the Gaza Strip and the ongoing Apartheid practices of the Israeli state. ...and furthermore, We support the call by the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement to boycott all companies trading with the state of Israel. ......and consequently the National Coalition for Palestine (of which the MJC is a member) issued a nationwide directive to effect an immediate boycott of all Woolworths stores in South Africa. The call to boycott is due to Woolworths’ unwavering support for the Apartheid State of Israel, and comes after much research and assessment of the status and level of trade between the chain store and the Israeli state. Woolworths has refused to remove Israeli products from their stores. Proceeds from the sale of Israeli goods funds war crimes against Palestinians. Despite the above commitment, the MJC continues to certify Woolworths in house takeaways as halaal. This makes the MJC culpable in the very issues condemned in the NC4P statement to which the MJC is a signatory. Beyond their hypocrisy, their actions are morally reprehensible, ethically despicable and judicially unjustifiable. Their latent hypocrisy makes them more dangerous to the cause of truth and justice than the patent enemies of this noble cause like the pnps, Coca Colas, Woolies, DisChems, etc.
