In the last 33 hours, I believe I have felt every feeling a person could possibly feel except anger. I am not even sure what I am feeling anymore. As most of.you know I had 2 of my 4 babies at MP yesterday during the shooting. As a parent, the fear I felt for my children, I do not ever wish for another parent to ever feel, and I know that I was not alone in that feeling. The not knowing if your babies are okay and then finally reaching them and knowing that they were not injured physically brought so much joy. Then realizing that some parents would not be as lucky as I was made me feel guilty. I know that sounds crazy right? I am so saddened by all of this that has happened to our babies, families, friends and community. I know that yesterday changed my kids. I am not even sure how to help them work through it all, I have noticed that since I was reunited with them yesterday that we all have given a lot more hugs, a passing rub on the back or shoulder, and alot more I love yous. We went to the school today to retrieve their belongings that they left behind yesterday, and on the way in we saw a rainbow above the school. It was a small token for us. My kids put on a brave face and we walked in together. The staff and volunteers were great, I cant even imagine what they were feeling all morning bringing the kids around to retrieve their stuff, and we will be going back tomorrow for the public discussion, parent meeting and student meeting. I know in time we will all come to terms with this tragedy, heal the best we all can and never forget. I just have a simple request for everyone, Please hold your family close and let them know how much you love them and care. You never know what tomorrow will bring. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved and affected by this.
