In the last few months, many pet food manufactures have issued recalls of their brands due to contamination of some of the ingredients. According to a researcher at the University of Guelph, pet foods with plant-derived proteins may contain more mycotoxins. Pet owners can minimize the risk of mycotoxins by avoiding cheaper pet foods that are more likely to contain vegetable cereals and corn or wheat fillers, and specifically, those with large amounts of rice bran.
