In the midst of my crazy life, both professionally and personally, - TopicsExpress

In the midst of my crazy life, both professionally and personally, Im still an avid reader. The last couple of years Ive made it a point to read at least a few books published prior to 1960. No special reason, just because I like to study human behaviors and am always fascinated at how little we change even though we convince ourselves were very different from our ancestors. Oops, I digress. Currently reading a book published in 1949 by John Gunther. Its a memoir entitled, Death Be Not Proud, and is the story of his 17 year old sons battle against a brain tumor. Sadly, the boy lost his fight. But Im struck by the fortitude and courage of this family as they faced something most of us fear. Im fascinated at their new medical discoveries, things we take for granted today. Im reminded of the precious gift of two men I love who are brain tumor survivors, Charlie Brooks and Tracy Bray. Im so thankful we live in the 21st century, and have been given more time together. None of us knows how long we have left on this Earth, but whether its a minute, a day, or a decade, as long as we have breath, we have a purpose. If nothing more than to make someone smile or lend a helping hand. One thing about human nature will never change -- we need each other in big and small ways. These are the moments that matter!
