In the midst of the chaos, normal, wonderful people are trying to - TopicsExpress

In the midst of the chaos, normal, wonderful people are trying to make a difference. There are (some) stories of good people defending the innocent. Although I do not know where all this chaos both within our country and around the world takes us, I know that we should be good to the people around us. Take the time today to listen to a neighbor and try to encourage them in some small way. Build something, clean up a mess you did not create. Focus on what binds us together, not tears us apart. I will admit that when I look at the middle East and see the violent factions driving chaos everywhere they go.... then I look at the US and see violent factions taking more and more power... it makes me sad. When I see every government agency and many local police forces having mercenary forces at their fingertips and are unchecked in their power.... it makes me nervous. When I see lawlessness taking over and the balance of power getting erased.... our protection seems to be slipping away. Give grace and space to those around us. Do not be driven by hatred and revenge. These things just destroy all that is good in the world. I am going to list a few of the places of unrest..... read if you must.... but go and BE the community instead of living fearfully. There is no superhero and no real superpower. There are just average people, you and I, doing the right thing. This is from a couple of reports that I read. Most are not my words... some I paraphrased. It is a kind of overview. Civil war among the Arab Muslims is in full swing. ISIS seems to hate everybody: Shia (of course), high-living Sunnis (of course), Christians (of course), Jews (without a doubt). The Saudis and the Qataris are shivering in their shoes, and the Iranians are going to have to go after ISIS very soon. Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood (aka Hamas) are fully engaged in battle. I know, everyone is distracted by the Hamas / Israeli battle but the more brutal one is from the Egyptian side. Israel tries to minimize civilian casualties even though Hamas makes it challenging. Egypt is not as constrained. Jordan and Syria are a conflagration of Sunni and Shia (pretty sure no other option is allowed in those Muslim dominated states). Russia is swallowing up the Ukraine unchecked. Brutal violence is nothing new to Putin or Russia when they want something..... having a weak and ineffective US and Europe is allowing them complete liberty to take what they want without real consequence to themselves. The people of the Ukraine are paying a heavy price. Radical Islam is spreading its message of hate across the Middle East, much of Africa, Much of South and Central America.... and in the US and Canada. These seeds will bear fruit in the fullness of time. Today, I choose peace and joy.
