“In the morning shall my prayer prevent Thee” says the - TopicsExpress

“In the morning shall my prayer prevent Thee” says the troubled author of Psalm 88:13. He’s going to wake up and thwart God? That translation comes from the King James Version, over 400 years old, when “prevent” meant “come before. “In the morning my prayer comes before You” is a more contemporary translation (ESV). Morning habits can thwart God. God told Cain that “sin is crouching at the door…you must rule over it,” freed from slavery, Israel grumbled in the wilderness, and on it goes through the Bible (Genesis 4:7-8; Numbers 11, etc.) For faith to be relevant to daily living, discipline is needed in the morning. You awake and turn your thoughts to God or you awake and get on the treadmill of your own making. Call upon Him for help or prevent Him? “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus departed and went out to a desolate place, and there He prayed.” (Mark 1:35) The logic is simple. If we are justified solely by grace, we demonstrate our total dependence by a discipline of morning prayer. The Body of Christ awakes to pray with Him.
