"In the present moment, there is nothing but perfection. Think - TopicsExpress

"In the present moment, there is nothing but perfection. Think about it: in this moment, is anything really wrong? Is there anything to worry about or be angry about? Probably not. Anger occurs when the mind is in the past. Worry occurs when the mind is focused on the future. In the present moment, all is well. With this realization, the mind and body are filled with the feelings that bring about healing: joy, love and bliss. There is no stress and the body functions optimally without any obstructions. A wounded body heals. A healthy body remains well. This is the fruit of stillness. In order to slow down the mind, we must become more conscious of every action. In other words, when you are at work, think of nothing but work. When you are with your family, think of nothing but your family. Be present where you are and with what you are doing. There is an old quip that goes something like this. Don’t be like the preacher who when preaching is thinking about making love to his wife and when he’s making love to his wife is thinking about preaching. He wasn’t a very good preacher or a very good husband. Thoughts are very distracting. When you are in the present you will become absorbed in the task at hand and in doing so, your mind will calm down and you will experience peace. In the Buddhist tradition, this has simply been called Mindfulness, the meditation of life." -- From Healing Your Life; Lessons on the Path of Ayurveda by Dr. Marc Halpern.
