In the recently concluded Senior National Women’s Basketball Championship the underdogs Chhhattisgarh stuns Railways who were 29 times national champions and are reigning champions for 12 years consecutively. The Chhattisgarh team consisted a five-foot player, a player with a brain tumour, a 31-year-old rejected player and some players who were playing at this level for the first time and had little experience. They all got together to script an astonishing win over the invincible and the unbeatable. Hats off to the gusty girls and the coach Mr Rajesh Patel who believed in the players and used the players height advantage to the optimum. The lethal combination of shortest 5 foot to the tallest 6.11 foot players. The final score Chhattisgarh 81 and railways 77. Against all odds they won. Such stories of grit and determination needs a lot of public support and media coverage. However unfortunately such incredible feats are pushed at the backround and drowned in the glitz an glamour of cricket.
