In the song Ironic by Alanis Morissette, she lays out many specific ironies -(though theyre not really ironies, they are surely things that would make you say go figure). That said, all of them evoke a specific image, like raining on a wedding day, free ride when youre already paid, etc. However, one of them is 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife. Youd think that this, too, would evoke a specific image. I mean, why put something in there that is so extreme and far-fetched and that seemingly makes no sense, when all the others are things we can relate to? 10,000 spoons? Its not like she said 10 spoons, when all I need is a knife. So, the specific image that comes to my mind is a guy in jail that would like a knife, yet he is surrounded by thousands of spoons. I googled it but could find no answer. Anybody have an opinion?
