In the wake of the Universal Credit scandal surrounding Ian - TopicsExpress

In the wake of the Universal Credit scandal surrounding Ian Duncan-Smith and the courts ruling against him, I think its time to raise an issue I find important. The article below sums up a lot of whats going wrong. The mental health services are failing, badly. It was bad before the recession, and with savage cuts to what they can facilitate, and Ian Duncan Smiths attitude of if they kill themselves theyll no longer be a financial burden its made projects like Labores Somnium and HOPE not hate ever more important. It doesnt matter wether Facebook pages are updated everyday, or not for months. It doesnt matter if new works and events are publicised. Projects done for the mentally ill must devote what few resources they have towards preventing suicides, anxeites, living problems, supporting equality, supporting educational needs and social standards. Where the NHS is failing due to its budget being crippled, charities and projects are thinly covering the gaps, and tearing at the seems doing so. So when you can, if you can, donate to a charity. It doesnt matter if its a foodbank, a community project, a childcare service or civil represntation. What matters is the fellow citizens around you, as human as you are. Inequality, alike poor mental and pyshical health, only gets better if we all work together to combat it. theguardian/commentisfree/2014/jun/27/mental-health-system-crisis-vulnerable-people
