"In their guide to doctors, the authors list the most pertinent risks associated with distracted driving, including a four- to six-fold higher risk of collisions when talking on a cellphone, and a 23.2 times increased risk of crashes or near-crashes while reading and sending text messages. “Whether it is hand-held or hands-free, the conversation is the distraction, regardless what the laws say,” they write."
