In this Film you will see the Twinstars 1940s equivalent - the Avro Anson. The Anson was operated at RAF Halfpenny Green by No. 3 Advanced Flying Unit from 1941 to 1946 who operated 66 Ansons training Pilots, Radio Operators & Navigators day and night and in all weathers on advance instrument flying courses. The main runway then was 04/22 which had the 1940s version of ILS - the Beam Approach Landing System operating on it and which approaches could be flown Blind in weather down to 50 feet! Yes thats a decision height of 50ft! Heres a film of a Anson from the inside. Compare this to the Twinstar. They do the same job, they are both light twins, but they are separated by more than 70 years. When you fly at Halfpenny Green you are flying in the path of a rich aviation history of 100s of Aviators who have gone before you... Its pretty awesome really...
