In this afternoons Super Showcase we take a look at a being with undeniably destructive power. A being that evolves on the fly, and comes back stronger every time. I bring you, the unstoppable Doomsday! The nameless being later to be called Doomsday (by Booster Gold) was artificially created in the distant past on Krypton, long before the humanoid Kryptonian race had gained dominance over the planet. During this time period, Krypton was a violent, hellish world where only the absolute strongest of creatures could survive. Doomsdays creator was a mysterious alien named Bertron, who wished to create the ultimate life-form. To do so, Bertron and his team sent a baby onto the surface of the planet, where it would be instantly killed by the harsh environment or the vicious creatures inhabiting it. Each time, whatever of the lifeforms remains that survived were harvested and used again, to create a better, stronger version than the previous. In short, the mad scientist was using the method of cloning to accelerate the evolution of the being he was creating. Through decades of this process, the being who would eventually become Doomsday was forced to endure the agony of death, thousands upon thousands of times; the memory of these countless deaths was recorded in his genes and drove it to hate all life. Eventually, Doomsday gained the ability to evolve against what killed him in his prior life without the need of Bertrons technology. At this point he proceeded to hunt down and kill all of the lethal creatures that inhabited Krypton. When it saw Bertron, Doomsday considered him and the team to be a threat due to their roles in his multiple deaths and attacked the ship they were working in. Bertron himself met his death at the hands of his own creation. Doomsday would go on a interplanetary killing spree. Before reaching Earth, he battled Darkseid on Bylan 5. Darkseid was there to marry a princess and take the worlds chemical deposits. However, Darkseid left the planet after he saw that his battle had created a toxic atmosphere. Doomsday hitched a ride on an escaping shuttle, and continuing his rampage. It took an Oan Guardian, and a Khundian being called the Radiant to put him down. After he was defeated by the Radiant, he was shot into space and crash landed on Earth deep underground until the one fateful day that he would battle Superman. Doomsday is NOT a guy to take lightly. The monster only returns, evolved past whatever had last defeated him. I definitely would not like to see him lumbering down the street. We all know what he did to Superman, Doomsdays destruction is so vast, it caused multiple villains to do something about it. In the New 52, he is still a rampaging monster, but his overall story had changed. I wont give out the story for those who have not read up on him, however. Doomsday is a major, MAJOR threat to anything and anyone. I would definitely like to see him come around, because when he does, things get REALLY interesting. -Doctor Fate
