In this day and age of countless novel technologies claiming to be the next big thing, it is increasingly difficult to decide which innovation to take notice of. One development that has truly shaken up the playing field however, is that of 3D printing technology. The draw being that making a one-off purchase of a home 3D printer would allow one to create a plethora of items at a fraction of what you would have to pay for them. Netflix‘s new documentary Print the Legend aims to explore society’s current fascination with the technology, along with the controversies that come along with such a revolutionary breakthrough. Set against a backdrop of the history and development of the 3D printing movement and the dynamics within and between the companies heading this technology, we are given a better sense of the benefits and implications of widespread use of this new tool.
