In two years of experiencing this American life, I have observed that while slavery officially ended, sadly the systems and structures on which slavery was run are still in tact. Most black people still work for white people, BUT even MORE DISTURBING, white people still occasionally as a mechanism of control, give black people a tiny teeny token of appreciation for which black people are supposed to be eternally grateful. But these tiny teeny tokens of appreciation are carefully selected to make sure they still serve white interests. Hollywood is a classic example of this neo-slavery systems and structures at work. Once in a blue moon, a black actor wins the oscars BUT the roles for which they win these oscars are roles that promotes black stereotypes, hence keeping the white mans interest at work. Through these token wins, the world is given an illusion of diversity and equality at work BUT through these roles, the black man remains constantly looked at as this horrible stereotypes. THIS IS THE SAME SYSTEM/STRUCTURE AT WORK IN UNIVERSITIES, BIG CORPORATIONS/PROJECTS where token blacks faces are thrown against dominating white faces while the organizations receive huge finances and/or support in the name of promotion of DIVERSITY!
