Inauguration of Aluling Bridge in Cervantes, "The Summer Capital of Ilocos Sur" Presidential sister Victoria Elisa “Viel” Aquino-Dee, accompanied by Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio Singson and Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin, leads the inaugural drive-through to formally open the Aluling Bridge during the Inauguration Ceremony in Barangay Aluling, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur on Thursday (August 15, 2013). The project was implemented in eight phases with a total cost of Php191.37 million funded from the DPWH budget. The completion of the bridge allows faster and safer movement of people, goods and products between Ragions I and CAR, benefitting around 1,247 motorists per day. It will also support livelihood and tourism in Cervantes, dubbed as the “Summer Capital of Ilocos Sur”. The people of Cervantes trade agricultural crops, fishes, quarry products and manufactured goods with other lowland municipalities in the province and nearby areas such as Mountain Province and Baguio City.
