Inciweb: Idaho Panhandle Storm Damage (Hazardous Materials): During the evening of August 25, 2013 several thunderstorms moved across the Idaho Panhandle resulting in high winds and a large number of downed and damaged trees. To ensure a rapid and comprehensive response to the storm damage the forest has activated an Incident Management Team, like those used to manage wildfires and other emergencies, to quickly assess and manage hazards discovered in recreation sites across the forest. Assessment will focus only on developed sites, such as campgrounds and picnic areas. As assessments are completed information will be posted below indicating locations where recreation sites have been temporarily closed pending removal of hazardous trees.
