India, State of Rajasthan, Eastern regions, Description: Unexpected rain accompanied by hailstorm affected normal life and crops at many places in eastern Rajasthan on Monday. Mild to moderate showers were witnessed in eastern parts of the state including Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli and Jaipur. Except Jaipur many isolated places in eastern parts witnessed hailstorm which affected vegetables and millet crop. Dust storm, hailstorm and rain was witnessed in Alwar district on Monday evening where normal life was affected. Due to the unexpected dust storm trees and poles tilted and some also broke in various villages in Alwar. "Though no loss of life was reported trees and poles were scattered at the Sashastra Suraksha Bal (SSB) camp in Alwar. At least 100 villages and hamlets also witnessed heavy rainfall and hailstorm," said an officer with the Met office. Attributing the unexpected rainfall and hailstorm to the western disturbances and active upper air cyclonic circulation, SS Singh, director, Jaipur Met office said that similar climatic system will prevail in the next 24 hours. "The monsoon has almost withdrawn from every part of the state. However, whatever scattered rainfall we are witnessing would be recorded in the monsoon tally." Earlier in the day weather continued to be dry in Jaipur as the city experienced a maximum temperature of 37 degres Celsius, almost 3 degrees above the normal notch. Humidity of 75 per cent was witnessed which made the weather a bit sultry in the afternoon. However mild to moderate showers brought some relief and a dip up to 3 degrees Celsius was witnessed in the evening. No air, road and rail traffic was affected due to rainfall and dust storm in and around Jaipur. Bikaner remained hottest in the state with maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. It was followed by Jaisalmer that recorded a maximum temperature of 39.7, Barmer 39, Jodhpur 38, Churu 38.2 and Ajmer recorded a maximum temperature of 36.7 degrees Celsius.
