India drops attempt to commit suicide as a punishable offence in its new legal reform. Bangalore police has been trying to prove for nine years that I was trying to commit suicide during my 2005 building-climb protest during Chinese PM Wen Jia Bao. Since then I had to travel from Dharamshala to Bangalore 22 times already. This legal reform makes sense. Those who are driven to suicide in life should be supported by society, not tried in court and kill them in the process of long drawn out court cases. More legal reforms are needed. Significantly, this legal reform will now look at Indian activist Irom Sharmilas hunger strike as an act of protest and not as a crime. Otherwise, the old law could make Gandhi ji a criminal if he had been alive.
