Indian Springs teachers have been working hard to develop - TopicsExpress

Indian Springs teachers have been working hard to develop innovative ways to introduce an ever changing curriculum. Todays children are asked to work smarter and use critical thinking skills that were rarely required when we were in school. Research has shown that the curriculum and instruction has not prepared our students to think critically and apply what they know or explain their thinking whether in be in writing or pictorials. In visiting with many parents, we recognize your desire to support instruction and for it to continue using similar strategies taught in the classroom. Innovation is the key to success, and we are fortunate to have such a wonderful staff that is willing to take a step outside their comfort zone and do what is best for our students. In the near future, we will be begin featuring videos that how our teachers are scaffolding the thought process for our students. We recognize that concepts introduced today are not the way we learned years ago however, we are asking that our parents keep an open-mind and respect that our teachers are working diligently to meet our state standards. Our students are rising to the occasion of understanding process versus just memorizing basic concepts and skills. We are helping to develop critical thinkers of tomorrow, and it is imperative we provide these opportunities for our students. We are excited for these changes and look forward to seeing our students experience success in their learning. I have included a short video that supports our initiative to move forward. vimeo/m/110807219
