Indianapolis, Indiana My name is Hickson and I’m a 3 year old black Great Dane. I was surrendered to the Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue by my previous owner. My owner was in an accident and had to go through surgeries which made it too hard for her to keep me. I’m so glad she made the right decision and gave me to the rescue, I’m having a lot of fun in my foster home! I’m a BIG cuddler! I want nothing more in life then to be close to my humans and give you all my love and attention. I know what “leave it” means but I’m a little confused with other commands! When my foster mom says sit, I lay down! I know she wants me to do something but I don’t always get it right! I try…that counts, right?!? I’m not treat motivated when it comes to learning! I don’t want food, I want you to praise me and love on me instead! I do love to go on walks but I’d rather play with humans or other dogs! I’m working on my leash walking, I’m pretty good at it but I like to zig zag when I see another dog I would like to play with! I don’t mind going in my crate when my humans leave but be prepared that I’ll probably be hiding under the blankets when you return! I like to wrap myself in the blankets because they smell like my humans! I’m working on my socialization with other dogs. I lived with a large breed dog before and we played pretty rough. Right now, I’m kind of scared of other dogs because it is an adjustment for me. My foster mom and dad are working with me on it and showing me there is nothing to be afraid of. I’m also vocal and I guess I need to tone it down! I like to bark when I want to be closer to you and when I have to go potty. I’m learning there is a time and place for my barks! I really want my life to return to normal and have a family who will love on me all day long. Please choose me if you have room in your heart for a dog that wants to be by your side forever!
