Indias Bengaluru police on Saturday arrested a business executive, Mehdi Masroor Biswas, for allegedly operating a pro-IS (Islamic State) Twitter account. City Police Commisioner MN Reddi had yesterday assured that his force was looking into media reports that said Mehdi was operating the @ ShamiWitness account. We have taken note of this information and our crime branch is on this job to look into it and see its veracity and what needs to be done, Reddi had told reporters. An investigation by Britains Channel 4 News had stated that the @ShamiWitness account, which reportedly had a massive 17,700 followers, was being run by an executive based in Bangalore. The report also claimed that the executive was ready to join the Islamic State himself if his family had not been dependant on him. As per reports, the social networking account had also tweeted US aid worker Peter Kassigs execution and other videos, moments after they first appeared on the internet.
