India’s “stubborn policy” compelled youth to take arms: Geelani Srinagar: Reacting to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement about educated youth joining militancy Chairman Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani Thursday said it was the stubborn approach and denial of providing political space that young educated men were encouraged to take arms and sacrifice their lives for pious cause. Syed Ali Geelani in a statement issued to Quick news 24x7 on Thursday said that India’s aggressive and stubborn policy would bear more terrible results in future. “It is because of this policy educated youth opted to take up arms.” He said there is no need to bother or go mad about the issue as it is a simple issue. “Even the innocent children are familiar with hard realities.” The Chairman said that hundreds of youth were implicated in fake cases, arrested and sent to jails by which their future was destroyed and made bleak by police. “These youth were witness to all this. They now understand that India under the arrogance of power, in no way, would agree to provide political space or heed to the peaceful voice. This was the reason they opted to take guns,” he said. The Hurriyat Chairman termed the use of force in 2008, 2010 and secret hanging of Afzal Guru, main motives behind encouraging youth to join militancy ranks. “The secret execution of Muhammad Afzal Guru and the refusal to return his dead body prompted the youth to rethink and that is the reason they preferred to die a life of honor than to be slaves,” Geelani said, adding that during last 23 years, thousands of youths laid their lives. Among those included highly educated doctors, engineers and even a few pilots who sacrificed their precious lives for a sacred cause, Geelani added.
