Indulge me a moment, wall, while I geek out about writing and stuff. Ive been doing a lot of it lately, and the novel has expanded. A lot of it was already written before Id finished the first part, so that helped. But it was a total re-write of that, since Id fully developed the beginning and I didnt like a lot of parts of it. And some of it was done in snippets on evernote, which is a handy little app for writers since all your stuff stays in one place across all your devices and therefore makes a marvelous venue for those little hiccups of inspiration we creative types tend to get. Now Im getting into new-ish territory and the progress will likely slow down since I write very slowly. I love that part, though: choosing the right word. Ive spent up to ten minutes trying to decide whether to use a or the before. Dont ask me how much longer I ruminate when I cant quickly land on the best word for the tone/scene/emotion/thought. But again, I love that. It forces you to look things up and reread passages. Most importantly, it forces you look upward for divine light in the attitude of pensive curiosity. We all look brilliant that way, dont we? Or touched. Either way.
