Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari has said that an amendment to the Income Tax Act would work better towards bringing transparency. Speaking in a Television interview, Mr. Tewari dismissed the Central Information Commission (CIC) order on bringing political parties under the RTI Act. He favoured an amendment to the Income Tax Act rather than bringing the political parties under the ambit of RTI.On the 3rd of this month, the CIC had held that political parties are answerable under the RTI Act.
