"Information is power"so they say. I do not know which kind of information is power but I guess it should of course be a good one including that which is full of critism and often revealing the truth to the public domain. For now let us dwell on the information that criticise and thus bringing the truth to light. We are informed of the reality through the media houses be it print, soud or video. The press always tells us the truth of things. In this case it is the most feared by those in power. Even the valiant are afraid of it too. In the regime of Adolf Hetler, he was qouted saying one day that, "For French Newspapers are to be feared more than thousands of armed soldiers." That tells distinctly that information indeed is more powerful than any firearm. It is very unfortunate that even countries like Kenya who support freedom of the media and communication are now retrogressing back to previous eras. I was startled when I learnt of Kenyan Parliament wanting to ban any media coverage of its proceedings. If indeed Kenya does this, what about Sudan? Recently military in Khartoum closed down four media houses in sudan and a journalist was arrested and detailed when he reported the civil war in Abo korsholla and the likes. This is not the first time the government has closed the media houses especially when they report the war between SAF and SRF. In South Kordofan there has always been absolute media blackout. These are not the only countries oppressing the media; on the list there are several others. If you follow regional news then you probably know what happened in Uganda and even the young nation-Southern Sudan. Despite these deliberations and challenges especially in war torn areas to reach the media; there is a way now. BBC has made it easy. Click on bbc.haveyoursay any report your problems so that there is no misgivings. I encourage all Nubians to do so. This way we will report any single atrocity committed in our land.
