Ininglish ko po dahil yun po ang turo nyo, na ang pag eenglish ay palatandaan na may natutuhan ako. Okay, so I’ve seen it all! You have survived stage 4 terminal cancer, a fall injury, poverty, dangers of the high seas and many more. I’ve seen your hard work, endurance and stern disciplining. You pounded me with encouragement and reprimand. You taught me so many things and many of them I already forgot but I am what I am now simply because you are my father. If narrowed down to what could be the single most important legacy you handed down to me, I am glad it’s not a vast fortune nor great education but it’s your persistence to bring me up and our family to the lordship of Christ Jesus. By raising us in this faith, by far you have exceeded the Zobels , Cojuangcos and the Ayalas, because yours will endure for eternity. Looking back, it may not be perfect but the nurturing you brought me up to makes me thank God for all that we’ve been through. Through thick and thin, even when there’s no food on the table, even when we had nothing (and I really mean nothing), you stick around providing us what other kids don’t have; it’s the precious fatherhood. I’ll be forever proud that you are my father and that you were there in every level. May I salute you for the greatness and goodness of such fatherhood that I am privileged to benefit from. Happy 84th birthday Papang and may you continue on living a full life span of joyful, healthy and fulfilling life.
