Initiating Scenario 16! Xerdun is a colony in the Imperium, - TopicsExpress

Initiating Scenario 16! Xerdun is a colony in the Imperium, near Tau space. 90% of the planet is desert. The rest is taken up by a singular ocean. Arrayed around the ocean are three substantial hive cities The planet has a population of a dozen or so billion people. Most of the population is centered in the cities, though there are several mining stations, several large groups of nomads, and a decently sized Mechanicus shrine. The planet has a very substantial amount of material resources, and many large promethium reserves. You are the Planetary Governor of Xerdun! You have ruled over the planet, as a shining example to Governors everywhere, for the past century. Thanks to rejuvenat treatments, you look and can think like a person a third your age, but your days of fighting personally have past you. Xerdun is wealthy, as are you. The planet is known for providing more than the standard Imperium tithe in the form of Militarum Regiments, and you have many friends among the upper echelons of the Ecclesiarchy and Astra Militarum. Many a time, your planet has fought off marauding groups of orks or cultists, and as a result you have a large standing Militarum garrison. Whilst in the midst of dealing in your business, you are interrupted by the Colonel in charge of the guard forces present. The few sanctioned psykers present on Xerdun have been getting forewarnings of danger, and warn of instability in the warp around Xerdun, from the direction of the rest of the Imperium. For a while the warp only grows worse, and by halfway through the month, travel to most of the Imperium is rendered incredibly hazardous to all but the most sturdy of vessels. During this period, did you send any messages? Requisition any forces? While your psykers can not detect amy signs of a chaos invasion, yet, there is still ample reason to worry. However, you are soon given reason enough to focus on something else. A xenos craft enters atmosphere, bearing the markings and make of the Tau, broadcasting a no fire signal. The ship is directed to a nearby platform, where you make your way to. You arrive at a stand off. Stormtroopers and Guardsmen are surrounding the small craft. Having knowledge of the various enemies of the Imperium, you recognize the fact a Tau diplomat of the water caste stands at the foot of his ship. Surrounding him are a half dozen fire warriors. Seeing you, and apparently recognizing a figure of authority, the diplomat begins talking in fluent low gothic. He explains that Xerdun is soon to join the Tau empire. A Tau force is on its way, and the diplomat wishes to learn how you would like to surrender, and how likely it is that he may find willing converts to the Greater Good upon Xerdun. Your guardsmen, needless to say, are not exactly happy looking. Yet the diplomat seems totally at ease, entirely confident that he will meet no conflict. Later discussion with the Navy in orbit will reveal that a Tau fleet is indeed on its way, and there is still the matter of the warp storm. What do you do, Governor? How do you diplomatically handle the situation? Or perhaps, non diplomatically? Servo Skull Grim
