Inner City Helping Homeless reported numbers of 98 people fed and clothed on the streets of Dublin tonight. An increase of 25% on previous weeks. These figures coincide with figures released by civil defence on bed closures after the Winter Initiative were 100 beds were closed over the last month. Figures have risen yet government and the homeless executive have shunned the option of keeping these beds open. Tonight was a particularly bad night the streets cold, damp, and rain. With an increase in numbers this week, an obvious problem requires an obvious solution. MORE BEDS...... Junior Minister Jan O Sullivan, Minister for Housing seems to need a stark reminder of this. A big thank you to all our volunteers tonight who braved the elements to make sure Dublins most vulnerable were fed and clothed.
