Insert 6 I spent the rest of the day on bed. Later that day, Yonela came to visit me, she bought me goodies and my clean clothes. She hugged me. Yonela : You gave me a fright Asanda but Im glad I saved your life. Me : I wish you never did. Yonela : Stop being ridiculous, youre my bestie and I love you. Me : (smiles) Thanks for the food bubuu. I owe you and oh the clothes werent necessary. Yonela : Ive never spent a day in hospital so andaz. Me : Akho nxaki. Yonela : I love you ne, never doubt that. Me : Thanda nam. Yonela : Ill come back tomorrow. She kissed my cheek and gave me a hug the said her goodbyes and left. Again I was left alone, bored and didnt know what to do. Two days later... My parents havent came to see me for the last two days, maybe they were probably busy or something. They didnt even promise to fetch me or maybe they didnt know that I was getting discharged. I went to take a bath and went back to my ward. I parked my things and wore a dress and sleepers. I sat on the bed hoping for someone to pop up but I was just wasting my time. The doctor came in with papers in her hand. She handed them to me. Doctor : These are your discharge forms, please sign. I signed the papers and gave them back to her. Doctor : Youre now ready to go. Me : Ill wait a little bit. Doctor : Whos fetching you? Me : I dont really know doctor. I havent seen my parents for the past two days and I dont have a phone with me. She borrowed me her phone. I dialled my moms numbers. Me : Mom? Mom : Yes. Me : Come fetch me. Mom : Im very busy nana but Ill tell your dad. Me : Please make it snappy, Im tired of waiting. I hung up. Me : Thanks doctor, youre one of a kind. Doctor : Its my pleasure, and you have to go out and wait at the reception. The cleaners want to clean this ward. Me : Okay. Thanks again. I took my bags and waited at the reception. After a while my dad arrived, he took my bags and I followed behind him. We got in the car and went home in silence. That was what we call awkward silence, I didnt know whether to look at him or look out of the window. I would look at him now and then but I wasnt looking at him straight. We got home, I took my bags and headed straight inside. There was no one in the house. I made myself something to eat and went to my room. After eating I took the nap. Woke up late and went to take a shower, after the shower Neli called me for supper. I took my food and went to eat in my room, I couldnt face my parents especially my siblings. What kind of a sister am I? Am I teaching them to escape their problems? And that death was an only solution? I was just a bad example to them. After eating I tried sleeping again. I woke up the next morning (friday), brushed my teeth and washed my face then went for breakfast. My mom was sitting in the kitchen. I didnt greet her. Mom : Whats wrong Asanda? Me : Akhonto, even if I try talking to you it wont make a difference muc so lets leave it. Mom : Im your mother. Me : And you should be protecting me from that monster called dad. Mom : Yoh hay Asanda. Me : (straight look) Yintoni? Mom : The Mbatha are coming tomorrow. Me : The Mbatha this, the Mbatha that. Couldnt you at least wait until Im much better? Mom : You did that to yourself Asanda so deal with it. Me : And you also deal with the situation that I wont marry Lunga. Mom : I told you that theres no need fighting it. Get over it okay? Me : Mxm. I took my cereal and went to my room. After eating I locked my door and opened my diary. Dear Diary. Things didnt go the way I planned and I think its time I come to terms that my parents wont let this go unless I do it. I wish we could exchange places so you could be me. Life aint fair.
