She was crying and that just crushed my heart but there was nothing I could do. Police: Drop the gun down ! Sizwe fired a gun shot I was too busy closing my eyes and screaming to see who he was firing at, I was certain it was me, but then I waited a few seconds after the gun was fired and to my surprise I was still breathing, I wasnt quite sure though that I was a ghost or really human, that -Id still have to figure out. I opened my eyes slowly, Sizwe pointed the gun at me, I did a silent prayer so that atleast Id go to heaven and there was another gun shot, I dont know who shot him but he went tumbling down. Daniel ran to untie me and the police arrested Scar and the other guy I didnt know. Me: Please dont arrest Ayanda, he wasnt involved, hes the one who helped me. Daniel: Yes, shes right. Police officer: Okay then, youre free to go. I went to check on Asanda, she was still tied to the pole. I untied her. I was glad that wed made it but wait, why is there blood all over her clothes ? Me: Princess can you hear me ? her school uniform was full of blood, she didnt respond. Me: Princess ?! Senzo: Let me check, he checked for her pulse then looked away. The police officer came close. Police officer: Im afraid shes ...shes gone. Me: Gone where ? shes right here and I see her ! Senzo: Im sorry Melo she couldnt make it. Me: Asanda !!!! I shook her and her whole body turned over. Daniel: Ill call an ambulane right away. Senzo: Thank you. the police took us out of that room, I couldnt believe that Asanda was really gone Police officer: Kodwa use shushu so you can take her to the hospital. Me: Ofcourse were gonna take her to the hospital, shes not dead ! Police officer: But it looks like it. Me I know shes alive. Daniel: The ambulance will be here any minute now. Me: Senzo please do something ! Daniel: Amber theres nothing that can be done now. Me: Ofcourse there is ! shes not dead, I know it, I feel it. Ayanda: Im really sorry ... The police officer took us out of the room again, saying were invading the crime scene or whatever that big word was. Ayanda: Theres no way shed survive that Melo.. Me: Nooooo!!! I rushed back inside to the crime scene, Senzo and Daniel following after me, the police officer tried to stop me but I went right past her. I knelt beside her, holding her lifeless body close to me, I cried till my tears could not come out anymore. how could she die ? Why ? why now ? why her ? I should have died and she should have lived. Daniel knelt beside me and brushed my back, an Ambulance came shortly afterwards and they took Asanda. The police officers took off they said theyd come back to have Sizwes body taken to the morgue. So now it was just me, Senzo, Ayanda and Daniel. Daniel: Here, I have your things. He gave Ayanda a briefcase. Ayanda: Thank you. Daniel: No, thank you. Ayanda: Ill get going, Melo.. I looked at him, tears still staining my face. Ayanda: Thank you.. I didnt say a word and he went out. Senzo: Uhm, Melo we should probably get going now. I felt too weak to even speak. Daniel: Yeah, this place is not safe enough. Me: Is h-he dead ? Senzo: Yes, hes dead. we were talking about Sizwe who was lying on the floor, a bullet through his head. Daniel: Hell never bother us again. Me: I wouldnt be surprised if he wakes up. Senzo: he wont, hes dead and Im sure of it. Me: Asanda cant be gone. Senzo: You know I had just bought her a phone for her birthday but now, I guess shell never get to use it. Daniel: Or see it. Me: Please just..just tell me that this is not happening I cant stand it it hurts too much, I cant take it anymore I just want to die too. Daniel: Dont speak like that, youll get over this. Me: I wont. I cant. How does any sane person get over such trauma ? how am I supposed to get over it like it doesnt matter ? Senzo: Please Melo, dont torture yourelf . Me: But its my fault ..she would have been alive if- Senzo: Melo, just calm down okay ? lets get you home first. Daniel helped me get up and carried me to the car. Daniel: Youll come with me Amy, Senzo will follow with his car. Senzo: Yeah. Daniel opened the front door for me then put me in, I put on my seat belt whilst he got on in the other side. Daniel: Im sorry I failed you .. I kept quiet, my mind felt like it was deeply disturbed, all this confusion, it almost felt like it werent real, but the pain felt real enough to make me cry. Me: She told me that Sizwe raped her, she sad it was sore. Daniel: I cant believe some people could be so cruel. Me: Im glad hes dead. Daniel: Yeah well, he deserves it. Me: But I wanted him to suffer like he made me suffer. Daniel: Its all over now. Me: No its not, Im just waiting for Asanda to return from the hospital. Daniel: Amy .. Me: Dont ! He kept quiet and kept driving. They stopped at a hospital, where Asanda was at, we went to the reception then the Doctor came to see us shortly afterwards. Me: Doctor, please tell me that shes gonna be okay. Doctor: We did everythig we could to save her. Me: Just tell me shes gonna be okay ! Senzo: Melo calm down. Doctor: Im sorry, she didnt make it. I felt weak to the knees, My Princess ... She cant be gone, Noooo !!!!! :(
