Insiders in the Canterbury Rams organisation have provided CBA Rumorz with knowledge of potential head coaches for next years campaign. As reported in The Press earlier, Dave Harrison will not be returning in a head coaching capacity. CBA Rumorz understands that the Rams have shortlisted their options to five names: Dave Langrell, Jason Kidd, Piet van Hasselt, Mike DAntoni and Marty Davison. Sources have revealed that Langrells stock has risen after leading the newly-formed Pioneer to a Hoben Trophy win over last years champions Atami. The Rams have Kidd listed as high as #2 on some of their coaching boards, but are worried about the potential of Kidd forcing his way into a director of basketball operations role at the organisation. Rams officials believe van Hasselt is ready to take up the mantle of an NBL head coach role, after 10+ years in charge of the prestigious Varsity club. DAntoni is a left-field option, but according to multiple informants, it was DAntoni who expressed initial interest in the role, citing the need to get as far away from LA as possible. Lastly, the Rams have considered the option of Davison as player/coach because it seems to work for Mark Dickel in Dunedin, so why not here?
