Instead of Complaining, Try Praizing…ShhooT! Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you will be blameless and pure, children of God without any fault. But you are living with evil people all around you, who have lost their sense of what is right. Among those people you shine like lights in a dark world, and you offer them the teaching that gives life. Philippians 2:14-15a ERV “Consider carefully what you hear…with the measure you “use it”, it will be measured to you, and even more.” There is an old saying that goes, “If you complain, your situation will remain; if you praise, your situation will raise!” Now, I know that praise alone can be thought of and used by some as a mechanism to escape reality, but the truth of the matter is, our thoughts which precede our words (watch it now) really do determine how we perceive and respond to people and predicaments around us. I believe this saying emphasizes the point that murmuring and complaining about what we do not like or agree with is useless, for it will not change the person or the problem confronting us…HmMMMM. However, if we change what we think and speak by having a positive perspective, our words and actions will be in agreement and our personal level of excellence will not allow us to respond inappropriately. Excellence does not yield to excuses or complaints; rather, it requires a personal level of participation (don’t miss this) that supersedes the status quo of being average or mediocre. Those who are excellent in thought, word and deed will always counteract complaints with the attention to detail that gives way to maximum performance and promotion in life (somebody needs to shout, “That’s ME!”). Those who complain most certainly will remain, but those who praise by speaking well of God and the people, places, and predicaments in their lives will be raised to a new level. Those in positions of prominence always take notice of the spirit of excellence. God will see to it that your praiseworthy mentality, conversation, and conduct is rewarded when you are faithful and fruitful in cultivating excellence in your life. ~Do Something Different! Where I am is not where I am, its just where I am. There is a Word that is spoken over our lives that cannot fail! Confession: Gracious God and Father, today I pray that You will allow opportunities to come my way that will cause excellence to be cultivated within and around me. Help me not to complain, but to commit myself to thinking and acting in a manner that pleases You. Empower me to eliminate excuses and to put forth the effort that will cause me and those I influence to excel in every area of life.
