Instead of providing for the “general welfare” of the American - TopicsExpress

Instead of providing for the “general welfare” of the American people, shortsighted policy in Washington is skewed in favor of corporations and the wealthy. It will only continue to shrink the middle class, hurt our economy, and take us on a path to third world status. During a severe recession the focus should be on jobs, jobs, jobs. If we do not take care of our infrastructure needs, provide an excellent education for all children, make health care universal and affordable, break our dependence from oil and invest in a clean energy economy, we will not be competitive on the world stage. Our trade agreements have not been good for American workers. By renegotiating these agreements and applying tariffs to level the playing field the US can once again become an export-led economy. How can we pay for these investments? - end corporate welfare for the military-industrial-security complex - make health care affordable through Medicare for all - enact a financial transaction tax - return to a progressive tax code - end tax loopholes, subsidies, and other corporate giveaways
